About INTERSPUTNIK
General information about company
The Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications was established in 1971 under the intergovernmental Agreement of November 15, 1971 on the Establishment of the Intersputnik International System and Organization of Space Communications (hereinafter – ‘the Intersputnik Agreement’). It is an international intergovernmental organization headquartered in Moscow.
Today, Intersputnik unites 25 countries all over the globe from Latin America to South-East Asia and from Europe to the south of the Arabian Peninsula.
Intersputnik’s core business is leasing satellite capacity to telecommunications operators, broadcasters and corporate customers under agreements with partner operators as well as providing full-scale services for the establishment and operation of satellite networks through its subsidiary Intersputnik Holding, Ltd.
Intersputnik’s main distinction and decisive advantage is that the company is a full-scale supplier of satellite capacity and engineering solutions meaning that our private and government-owned customers in over 40 countries have the widest possible choice of satellite resources of various systems available on the global market and are able to get all requisite information from a single source.
Long-term successful experience in operating satellite communications systems is our Organization’s main asset and the availability of Intersputnik's own frequency/orbit resource guarantees its successful development. Using this resource, Intersputnik is implementing full-scale projects aimed at procuring and deploying spacecraft in Intersputnik's own orbital positions to cover the most dynamically developing regions with growing demand for satellite communications services.
Intersputnik is an active international entity that constructively cooperates with the leading international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. Intersputnik enjoys the status of a permanent observer to the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and UNESCO; participates in the UN Secretary-General’s initiative Global Compact. For many years, Intersputnik has been a member of the Radiocommunication Sector of the ITU. Intersputnik is one of the founders of the Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council. In May 2007, Intersputnik acceded as an observer to the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications that unites Telecommunications Administrations of the CIS, Baltic, Central and East European countries. Intersputnik takes part in the activity of non-governmental organizations such as the International Federation of Astronautics, International Institute of Space Law, Global VSAT forum, etc.
